An advocacy campaign that enabled the rollout and buy-in for a sector-wide digital transformation strategy
The Centre for Public Impact (CPI) is a not-for-profit that works with governments to improve outcomes for the public. The CPI commissioned Allegory to deliver several global ‘conversation’ events with a diverse audience, to capture their views on the topic of ‘government legitimacy’. The outcomes from our work would be used to generate a report, to enable the CPI to speak directly with senior leaders in government and business.
Our strategy involved creating a team of local ‘champions’ on 5 continents, who would help us identify suitable groups in their area, and also facilitate the conversation events.
The conversations had varying formats and audiences: A roundtable in Brussels with European officials; a gathering at a Canadian reservation with Indigenous youth; a Brixton YMCA event with disadvantaged London young people; events in New Delhi with government officials/influencers; and in Mexico with professional citizens.
We also developed a ‘how to’ toolkit, which would enable others to replicate our work, and provided materials to help drive the conversation, including: a bank of case studies, a short film and a series of twelve blogs and online Q&As with policymakers and civil society leaders from around the world.
Our work enabled the CPI to launch a report about the ‘Finding Legitimacy’ programme at the 2018 OECD Integrity Forum in Paris, and present the findings directly to over 600 senior representatives from government, NGO’s, charities and businesses, to wide acclaim.
Our package of content also stimulated feedback and debate online on a global scale. Public Policy Forum, our Canadian event partner, received funding to carry on its legitimacy project on the strength of the work.
